Obituary: Frances A. (Monaco) Sgro, 89, of East Haven
She worked for Yale Surgical Supply and owned Emily's Delicatessen in New Haven. She enjoyed her friends of the Prihillian Club and travel.

Frances A. (Monaco) Sgro of East Haven passed away peacefully at St. Raphael Campus on Saturday June 12, 2021, just two months shy of her 90th birthday. Born on August 7, 1931 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Emilio and Teresa Monaco. She was predeceased by her husband Dominic of 37 years as well as her siblings, Susan (John) Capp, Sergeant First Class Medic (M.I.A. Korean War) Paul Monaco, Mary (George) Donato, Amelia (Arnaldo) Cusano and Angelina who passed at three months of age. She is survived by her daughter, Emily Frances Hope Sgro and son Dominic (Beth) Sgro of New Orleans, LA. Frances was the proud grandmother of Cassie Sgro, Brianna (Andrew) Dusty and Amanda (Ruben) Sgro Rivera. Frances is survived by her great grandchildren Arianna, Brianna, Adrian, Ruben, and Dominic James. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her dearest friend Angie Lancia of Old Lyme.
Frances owned Emily’s Delicatessen in New Haven. Prior to that she was employed by Yale Surgical Company under the direction of Alan Beresner of New Haven. She enjoyed her friends of the Prihillian Club, Inc. as well as her travels to Europe.
Her family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of Verdi 4 West, especially Dr. Paul A. Monaco and Dr. Roger G. Perez.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 at Our Lady of Pompeii Church of St. Pio Parish in East Haven. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. At the family's request, please do not send flowers.
