Obituary: Nancy Leone Florio, 92, of East Haven
After retiring, she volunteered at Deer Run School and she was a voracious reader who enjoyed weekly visits to Hagaman Memorial Library.
Nancy Leone Florio, 92, of East Haven peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday March 14, 2021 at MasonicCare in Wallingford, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl J. Florio Sr. Nancy “Annunziata” was born in New Haven on September 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Frank and Emila DiDinato Leone. She grew up in the "Hill" section of New Haven and loved sharing memories of her early life. She graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1946 and attended Stone Business School.
Nancy worked for Hallock's Appliances and retired after over 25 years of dedicated service as Office Manager. After her retirement Nancy was a volunteer for many years at Deer Run School in East Haven. Nancy was a voracious reader all her life and enjoyed weekly visits to Hagaman Memorial Library in East Haven. She also loved to travel and enjoyed visits to Italy, driving trips across the U.S. and her annual trip with her family to Wildwood Crest New Jersey.

Nancy was the devoted mother to John Florio (Rabecca) of North Haven, Neil Florio Sr. (Susan) of East Haven, Carol Spinello (Mark) of Branford, and Mary Baronski (John) of East Haven. She was predeceased by her son Carl J. Florio Jr. (Donna) of East Haven. Nancy was the loving grandmother to seventeen granchildren; Nathan Florio (Jillian) of NJ, Alissa Florio (Thomas) of NY, Christopher Florio (Monica) of Virgina, Justin Florio of North Branford, Ryan and Emma Hart of North Haven, Neil Florio Jr. of Durham, Mark Spinello Jr. (Jordan) and Michaela Nancy Spinello both of Branford, Andrew Baronski (Kate) of Coventry, Jordan Baronski(Kevin) and Daniel Baronski of East Haven. Loving great-grandmother to Carmine, Caressa and Jemma Florio. Connor and Quinn Florio and Kennedy and Harrison Spinello. In addition to her children and grandchildren Nancy is survived by her sister Theresa Danz of Texas. She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony and Primo (Sonny) Leone and her sisters; Mary Warner, Olympia Celetto, and Frances Lanno. Nancy was the cherished cousin, aunt and godmother to many dearly loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nancy loved spending time visiting and playing cards with her dear friend Sherry Cifarelli of East Haven and her lifelong friend Sis (Angelina) Collins of Branford.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, March 20, 2021 at 10:00 in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. There will be NO CALLING HOURS. Memorial donations may be made to Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main St., East Haven, CT 06512.
