Students To Send Packages To CT National Guard Troops In Africa
For their capstone project, East Haven High School students are raising money via GoFundMe to create and send care packages to CT soldiers.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Connecticut National Guard soldiers were deployed March 10 for a mission in support of Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa. Far from home, but not far from the hearts of a group of East Haven High School students.
The school's foreign language teacher Carla Marsico created a GoFundMe to help her EHHS Capstone Intervention Class in its fundraising efforts to send care packages to those troops stationed across the globe.

"Please help my kids in their endeavors to bring some cheer to our troops and combat the social isolation that soldiers feel because they are deployed away from their loved ones," she wrote. "The students will use these funds to buy supplies for the packages and pay the shipping costs to mail the packages overseas."
The goal is to raise $1,000. So far, the GoFundMe created Tuesday has around $250 in pledges.
