Forbes’ Christmas Gift: Cheap Gas, But Time Has Run Out

The price of a gallon of gas was about 30-40 cents lower Christmas morning at the three Forbes' gas stations in East Haven and New Haven.

EAST HAVEN, CT - In what has become a Christmas Day tradition for those in the know if you filled up your gas tank at one of three Forbes’ gas stations in the Greater New Haven area Wednesday you got an extra holiday gift.

The price of a gallon of gas was about 30-40 cents Christmas morning, lower than it was just a day ago at the gas stations- even higher at other gas stations across the state.

But on Christmas Day the price of gas at Forbes was $2.25 per gallon for regular; $2.39 for premium.

By comparison, the average price of a regular gallon of gas in Connecticut Christmas Day was $2.67.

Forbes, which has two gas stations in East Haven and one in New Haven generally charges the cheapest gas prices around - everyone knows that.

But the gas station(s) take it to another level every Christmas Day - dropping the price to prices not seen this low in years if not decades.

But if you were hoping to take advantage of the cheap prices today - Thursday or the day after Christmas - you are too late.

Prices are unfortunately back to normal.
