Tropical Storm Isaias In East Haven: Live Updates

EAST HAVEN, CT — Topical Storm Isaias is lashing the Connecticut shoreline Tuesday. Here is where Patch will post live updates on conditions from power outages, road closures, downed trees and limbs, flooding and other related storm incidents.

The town says it's ready

"All personnel have been placed on alert that they may be expected to work extended hours to clear roads of debris and downed trees. All trucks have been fueled, and town buildings prepared for the storm. In the event there is a need for relocation or evacuation, designated shelters have been prepared, the locations of which will be announced at that time."

2 p.m. - A tornado watch is in effect until 4:30
2:45 p.m. - United Illuminating is reporting 3,127 customers have lost power.
The utility says there are eight separate "events" or pockets where power is out. The more than 3,000 without lights represents 23% of all customers. Report an outage here.
4 p.m. - Police are reporting lots of tree limbs, some trees down
5 p.m. - Mayor Joe Carfora shares photos of public works crews clearing roadways
5:05 p.m. - State emergency management officials provide an update.
We expect the storm to move out within the next 2-3 hours with some higher wind gusts possible on the back end of this storm. Do not go near downed power lines, call 911 if you come across any downed lines!

5:30 p.m. - United Illuminating is reporting that 6,835 East Haven customers are without power.
The utility says there are 34 separate "events" or pockets where power is out. The more than 6,800 without lights represents around half of all customers.
7 p.m. - Downed tress wreaked havoc across town
9 p.m. - United Illuminating reported that as of 9p.m., 5,756 East Haven customers were without power
The electric company reported that 43 percent of all customers 13, 459 were affected.
