West Haven Army Veteran to Receive Handicap Accessible House Courtesy of 'Newtown Beautiful Baby' Contest

Funds raised will go towards building 22-year-old Army Ranger Sean Pesce a handicap home in West Haven.

The 2016 Newtown Beautiful Baby contest is underway and once again Mercedes of Danbury is providing the convertible car that the winning baby and his or her family will ride in for the Newtown Labor Day parade.

Newtown Beautiful Baby contest is seeking submissions. Each submission costs $10 and the funds raised will go towards building 22-year-old Army Ranger Sean Pesce a handicap home in West Haven. Pesce permanently paralyzed in action when he was shot 13 times. One bullet severed his spine.

Contest organizer and Sandy Hook resident Lois Barber said the contest photos are posted on a wooden voting booth at various locations in town. Each photo has a piggy-bank above it, into which dollar bills and checks can be inserted. The child whose photo raises the most money wins the title.

The winning baby and their family will ride in a chauffeur-driven convertible provided by Mercedes of Danbury in the Newtown Labor Day Parade as the “Beautiful Baby Winner.” The top two babies will receive Family Fun baskets. All contestants and former winners are invited to march behind the “Beautiful Babies Helping Heroes” banner.

All contestants entered receive a free 8 X 10” portrait with no sitting fee from Penny’s Portrait Studio at the Danbury Fair Mall, an $18 value, and a free plush Pluto stuffed toy, compliments of Kohl’s, a $5 value.

To enter, send a check for $10 made payable to ”Homes For Our Troops” and a non-returnable 4 X 4” photo (cut a 4 x 6”) with child’s name, contact phone number and email clearly written on the back pf the photo to:

  • Baby Contest, C/O Lois Barber, 33 Zoar Road, Sandy Hook, CT 06482

One hundred percent of the money raised by the Beautiful Baby Contest will be donated to Homes for Our Troops and earmarked for Pesce’s house.
