2 Injured In Shooting In Hamden: Police

Two people were hospitalized after being shot in Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — Two people were hospitalized after being shot early Thursday morning in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Dixwell Avenue around 12:15 a.m. on the report of shots fired with two possible victims, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said police found a 20-year-old New Haven resident, in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Pershing Street, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest. She was treated at the scene by Hamden Fire Rescue personnel and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Officers learned that a second victim, a 22-year-old Hamden resident, was shot multiple times and suffered injuries to his buttocks, hand and pelvis, according to Smith.

A good Samaritan saw the shooting victim on the ground and said she quickly dragged him into her vehicle and drove him to Yale-New Haven Hospital, according to Smith.
