4th Crime Prevention Forum Announced In Hamden

The public is invited to attend another online forum that will include Mayor Curt B. Leng, Hamden police officials and neighborhood groups.

HAMDEN, CT — The town's fourth crime prevention forum will take place on Thursday, officials recently announced.

Mayor Curt Balzano Leng and Police Chief John Sullivan announced Friday the continuation of the Crime Prevention and Community Resolutions Discussions, which began in January, with the fourth discussion being held Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m. on ZOOM.

All members of the public are invited to attend the meeting. Connection details are included in this release below, and will be posted on the Hamden.com home page under "News & Updates" and on the Calendar prior to the meeting.

“The purpose of the discussion series is to update residents on efforts being taken to address increases in crime and to facilitate healthy discussions and resolutions regarding crime prevention and public safety within the Town of Hamden,” officials wrote in a news release. “Residents are encouraged to attend the virtual event. The next program will include introductions, updates on efforts being taken to address and prevent crime in Hamden, and a focused conversation on Town programming and activities which are geared towards youth in our communities, especially at-risk communities. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions in an open Town Hall style Q & A period and are welcome to offer their thoughts, ideas or questions.”

“We’ve seen progress in past few months in reducing crime throughout Hamden and identifying the specific needs of our most at-risk communities,” Leng said. “These conversations have been extremely eye-opening, and are resulting in real changes to how Hamden Police interact with our residents and engage with our neighborhoods. We have an obligation to keep this dialogue alive, and to make sure that Hamden families continue are heard and their concerns acted upon.”
