Annual Earth Day Celebration To Take Place In Hamden

The town's annual Earth Day celebration will feature activities for kids & adults, exhibitors, food trucks and more. Read details here.

HAMDEN, CT — (Press release): Hamden's 2018 Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hamden Middle School, located at 2623 Dixwell Avenue. This year's family-oriented, free celebration will feature an excellent array of exhibitors promoting earth friendly services, products and organizations, food, music, and free activities.

Activities will include opportunities to “Touch a Truck” with the Hamden Fire and Police Departments and a garbage truck from All American Waste, an inside look at an AMR ambulance, activities with The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, the EcoWorks CT exhibit, children’s activities hosted by the Hamden Public Library, a kids Coloring Contest, a special natural products display by Thyme & Season, hiking and program information from the Sleeping Giant Park Association, the UConn Extension Master Gardener Program, the CT Invasive Plant Working Group, the Friends of Brooksvale Park, and dozens more awesome activities and exhibits for families. In addition, don't miss a pre-event bird walk at 8 a.m. (for details see Hamden.com), C.J. May’s Magic Show at 10 a.m., the Earth Adventure “Earth Balloon” 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Connecticut Science Center 11 a.m. to 12 noon, the Orchid Awards & White Oak Tree Planting at 12 noon, and the Audubon Birds of Prey demonstration at 1 p.m.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring their used electronics and textiles for disposal, as Take 2, Inc. and the HMS PTA will be on site offering FREE collection and disposal services. The event will also host a number of local food truck favorites, with Spuds Your Way, Holy Guacamole, Ali Baba’s Fusion, Moon Rocks Gourmet Cookies, and The Cupcake Chick joining us in 2018.
