Cops: Hamden Man Caught Stealing from Cars

According to police, the man was caught near Helen Street School after pilfering cars on Gorham Avenue.

A Hamden man is facing charges after he was caught allegedly stealing items out of cars on Gorham Avenue early Saturday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday Hamden Police got a report that someone was looking into cars and placing items into a backpack, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

"Moments later, Officer Tim Brown observed an individual who fit the general description, walking in the vicinity of the Helen Street School," Smith said in a release Monday.

Brown questioned the man, identified as Jason Reynoso, 30, of 14 Brook Street, Hamden, and in his backpack found "several stolen items, including electronic equipment," Smith said. "The items were stolen from the motor vehicle of a Gorham Avenue resident." 

Reynoso was charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of $5,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 15.

Officer Robert Manfield conducted the investigation, Smith said.
