HAMDEN, CT – Teresa Twomey of South Windsor has been named chair of undergraduate nursing at Quinnipiac University.

“Being selected as chair will allow me to work collaboratively with faculty and staff in an effort to meet the School of Nursing’s mission, vision and values and prepare our students to be nurses of the future,” said Twomey, an associate professor of nursing.

Twomey also serves as director of Quinnipiac’s Global Nursing Experience. Over the past four years, she has led students on experiential learning trips to Central America.

“One of the most rewarding aspects about traveling with nursing students on our short-term experiential trips to Central America is that the nursing students are exposed to and immersed in cultures, health beliefs and health practices that are different than our own,” Twomey said.

Twomey, who joined the university in 2005, teaches courses on health promotion and wellness, nursing fundamentals and caring for children and their families. In addition, she coordinates the clinical courses that students must complete during their junior year.

Her work in global nursing experience, accompanied by her commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, will bring unparalleled leadership to the school and to the undergraduate program.”
