Drive-In Movie Series Announced In Hamden

The movies will be shown on the 40-foot big screen at Town Center Park in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A special Drive-In Movie Series will be held inside Town Center Park on Thursdays in September and October, the Hamden Recreation Department recently announced.

The Drive-In Movie Series will take place Thursdays from Sept. 17 through Oct. 8 on the 40-foot “Big Screen” and is geared toward families and children of all ages. Limited concession vendors will be on-site, though families are encouraged to bring a meal to share in their vehicles. At this time, no picnic style seating is available at the venue – only vehicles will have access to movie sound, according to officials.

“Excited for our drive in movie night!” Mayor Curt Leng wrote in a post on Facebook. “I would have preferred a weekend night, too, but the demand for the equipment needed to host these is extremely high given current times, and the choice was to host them Thursday or not have them. I hope you and your family get to enjoy this event and if you can’t and need the weekend day, know that there will be more coming for you soon.”

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a parking spot. Volunteers will assist attendees with parking.

“As Town Center Park is relatively flat, parking rows will be staggered to provide the best-possible viewing angles,” officials wrote in a news release. “Attendees should enter through the Hamden Middle School and continue into Town Center Park via the access road.”
