Driver Hits 7 Cars, Building, Runs Off With Baby: Hamden PD
A driver struck seven vehicles and a building at three crash scenes before running off with a baby in a car seat, police said.
HAMDEN, CT — A driver struck seven vehicles and a building at three crash scenes before running off with an 8-month-old baby Monday night in Hamden, according to police.
Police responded to the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Putnam Avenue around 5:30 p.m. for a report of a crash. Police determined the driver was heading north on Dixwell Avenue and collided with two vehicles before leaving the scene, according to police Capt. Ronald Smith.
Moments later, the driver, now traveling south on Dixwell Avenue, struck five vehicles at the intersection of Morse Street, Smith said. The driver continued before striking Tint Works at 923 Dixwell Ave., according to Smith.

The driver was last seen running eastbound on Morse Street with an 8-month-old baby strapped in a car seat, Smith said.
Police later found the infant with family members, according to Smith.

No serious injuries were reported and police are continuing to investigate, Smith said.
