Fire Damages Garage In Hamden

Arriving crews found 20-foot flames shooting up from a detached garage, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — No injuries were reported after crews extinguished a garage fire Sunday night in Hamden, according to officials.

Crews responded to a report of a fire in the 300 block of Fairview Avenue around 9 p.m. Engine 2 arrived within five minutes of dispatch and found 20-foot flames extending upwards from a detached garage, according to Fire Marshal Brian Dolan.

“Firefighters deployed two hand lines and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze before it extended to the home which was in close proximity to the garage,” Dolan wrote in a news release.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Hamden Fire Marshals’ Office.
