Troop 60424 is a Cadette troop. The Girls are currently in their sixth year of Girl Scouts and are in the sixth grade. In 2014, with their cookie earnings, the Girls went to Build A Bear and made stuffed bears to donate to the Yale Children's Hospital Toy Closet Program. Throughout the years, the Girls have done events to support animal shelters and the elderly. Last year the Girls were also able to go to the Boston Science Museum with money that was raised by selling Girl Scout cookies.
When you buy Girl Scout cookies, you're helping Girls to have amazing experiences and are also helping the community. All cookie proceeds remain in Connecticut. On the council level, proceeds support girl programming and volunteer development. Girl Scout cookies are local troop's main fundraiser during the year. Cookie money proceeds provide the Girls with all the supplies they need for their meetings, allow the Girls to go on trips and events and also Take Action projects that benefit the Connecticut community. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the leading entrepreneurial program for Girls. Selling Girl Scout cookies helps the Girls to learn how to set a goal, work with a budget and gain confidence.

With the Girl Scouts, their is also an option to donate cookies. Cookies automatically get donated to the Cookies for Heroes program, unless a troop opts for their own local charity. The cookies are donated to women and men serving in the military and veterans. Last year, Connecticut donated over 100,000 boxes.
