Hamden Claims 3rd Straight SCC Girls’ Basketball Championship
The Green Dragons won the Division I championship, while Sacred Heart Academy took home the D-II title along with the girls' hockey crown.
HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden girls’ basketball team won its third straight SCC tournament championship with a 55-52 win over Wilbur Cross Thursday night in North Haven.
Senior Diamond White led the Green Dragons with 24 points, including hitting nine free throws in the fourth quarter, in the comeback victory, according to GameTimeCT.com.
White told GameTimeCT that she’s glad they “went out with a bang” and said she "wanted this so bad.”

It was also a big night for the Sacred Heart Academy basketball team.
Sacred Heart cruised to the SCC Division II title with a 55-39 win over West Haven.

Rosa Rizzitelli led the Sharks with 18 points, according to GameTimeCT.
The West Haven/Sacred Heart Academy girls’ hockey team claimed the SCC Division I championship with a 5-2 victory over Guilford at the Edward L. Bennett Rink in West Haven.
Grace Nowak made 26 saves and Mia Celentano earned Most Outstanding Player honors for West Haven/Sacred Heart Academy, according to GameTimeCT.
