Hamden Elks Hoop Shoot Set for Dec. 22
This year it's being held in conjunction with the Wallingford Elks Lodge Shoot at Dag Hammerskjold Middle School in Wallingford.

The Hamden/North Haven area 2013 National Elks Hoop Shoot, "the national free throw shooting contest" for boys and girls residing in Hamden and North Haven, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 22 in conjunction with the Wallingford Elks Lodge Shoot at Dag Hammerskjold Middle School, 106 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford.
Youth ages 8 through 13 as of April 1, 2014 are eligible. Registration begins at 1130 a.m. and ends when competition starts at noon. There is no charge for entering and no pre-registration.
Both the boys’ and the girls’ competitions are in three age categories: 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13. Each contestant has 25 foul shots at the hoop. The boy and girl in each age group with the best scores then compete through multiple levels of competition to qualify as one of the 72 national finalists in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Local winners will receive trophies at the complimentary Hamden Elks Youth Awards held in May.
