Hamden Library Awarded Library Services And Technology Grant

Mayor Curt Leng is pleased to announce that the Hamden Public Library has received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the Library Services and Technology Act (“LSTA”), through the State Library of Connecticut. The grant will assist the Hamden Public Library with facilitating a robust community outreach assessment by hiring a Library Consultant to administer the grant.

In total, the Hamden Library was awarded $5,000 to allow for the structuring of a comprehensive and strategic community development plan for critical programs, missions, and driven needs for the Town. The grant program will collaboratively develop community conversations with the library and will include a final report of the findings from these conversations.

Mayor Leng commented, “This grant re-starts the process of comprehensive examinations of the public library as a community anchor. Hamden thanks the IMLS for their commitment to bolster and rebuild public libraries, and likewise commits to bettering Hamden’s outreach for the diverse community of residents we serve."
