Hamden Obituaries: Charles H. Hansen, 86

He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII.



Charles H. Hansen 86, of Hamden, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at CT. Hospice. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Brophy Hansen.

Mr. Hansen, son of the late Edward and Mae Gerard Hansen, was born in New Haven on Jan. 12, 1927. Mr. Hansen graduated from Hillhouse High School and served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. After discharge , he attended the University of Bridgeport and was a graduate of Quinnipiac College in 1950.

Mr. Hansen retired in 1989 after 39 years of service with Southern Connecticut Gas Co. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Elks Club and active in the United Way for many years.

He leaves a son, Mark (Nancy) Hansen of Hamden, two grandchildren, Nicole (John) Steinbach of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. and Eric Hansen of Hamden, a brother John E. (Margie) Hansen of New Haven and several nieces and nephews. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

His funeral will leave from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.
