Hamden Obituaries: Helen K. Kennedy, 87

She was the life of the party and the person who made Christmas special for her many nieces and nephews.

Helen K. Kennedy, 87, of Hamden, died on Oct. 19, 2013 at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven.

Born in Waterbury, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Peter M. Kennedy and Helen M. Kennedy. She graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven and from Manhattanville College. For many years, she was employed at the Southern New England Telephone Company and worked there until her retirement.

Miss Kennedy is survived by her brother, William H. Kennedy and by a host of nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces, grand and great nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Peter M. Kennedy, Jr. and John J. Kennedy, Sr.

Helen was the life of the party in the Kennedy clan. Born on the day after Christmas, she was the person who made Christmas special for her many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rita's Church in Hamden. Burial will take place at Mount St. Peter's Cemetery in Derby.
