Hamden Obituaries: John Salvatore Salvietti, 82

John Salvatore Salvietti, 82, of Hamden, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary DeLucia Salvietti.

John was born in New Haven on Jan. 27, 1931, the son of the late John and Anna Salvietti, and resided in Hamden most of his life. He was a foreman at Lehman Bros of New Haven for 45 years and after retiring 20 years ago, he enjoyed working at the Hamden Middle School Cafeteria.

He served in the U S Air Force, Rescue Squad and was active in the Hamden Republican Party.

Beside his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ann Celone, a granddaughter, Nicole Mele (David) and granddaughters, Gianna and Ava., all of Hamden.

His funeral will leave Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in the name of John Salvietti, loving grandfather of Ava and Gianna Mele, may be given to St. Rita School, 1601 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Ct. 06517.
