Hamden Obituaries: Mary Ann Reynolds, 88
She was a gentle, compassionate woman who opened her arms, her heart and her home to all.

We all seem to lead such complicated lives but to Mary Ann Mislow Reynolds, there was just one thing that mattered to her and that was her family. She included anyone walking through her door as part of her family.
Mary Ann (Mecky) Mislow Reynolds, our Mommy, our Baba, our Great Baba, our Buddy, our Auntie, our friend, died Oct. 21, 2013. She was a gentle, compassionate woman who opened her arms, her heart and her home to all.
She was the youngest of six children born to Julia and Frank Mislow. Her parents immigrated from Russia around 1915.
Mary Ann was born and raised in West Haven on Feb. 28, 1925. She began her career as a bookkeeper at AC. Gilbert were she met her husband, Frederick. P. Reynolds, Jr. who died in June 2010. They married April 10, 1948.
Mary Ann Mislow Reynolds was cared for by her family as she progressed through Alzheimer's Disease. She leaves behind her eldest son and caregiver, Frederick (Rick) P. Reynolds, III and his former wife, Karen Joseph, daughter Holly R. Hagy of Hamilton Square, NJ and widow of C. Richards Hagy, and her youngest son, Craig P. Reynolds and his wife, Mary Hamilton Reynolds of Hamden and her grandchildren, Katherine, Luke, and Nadjeska, twins Ashley and Tricia and her husband, Erik Wentworth of Chelmsford, MA.
Mary Ann welcomed the newest member to her family on Oct. 8, 2013, her first great grandchild, Natalie Ann Wentworth. She also leaves behind her “buddy' and her “adopted” son Charlie Joseph, who for the past six years has been her caregiver.
Mary Ann touched so many lives over the years. She was always ready to put a pot of coffee on the stove - that's right - only perk coffee in this house - and make an apple pie, or other wonderful treats from her kitchen. Her kitchen was always open - her delicious “Dutch Dish”, her mashed potatoes, and honey carrots - her strawberry jams and chocolate pudding pie or lemon meringue or her Christmas fudge. There was something always being served from her kitchen, her heart, and her soul. She truly is a gift to all who knew her.
The Reynolds Family would like to acknowledge The Adler Center in New Haven for their ongoing support over the years with Mom's Alzheimer's and her care and Connecticut Hospice Service for helping Mom and her family in the last days of her life.
