Hamden Obituaries: Robert B. Hurd, 90
Services for Hurd, a founding members of the Dunbar United Church of Christ, will be held Saturday at the church.

Robert B. Hurd, 90, of Hamden, passed away on Oct. 6, 2013 at Conn. Hospice in Branford.
Robert was the husband of Carolen Lewis Hurd. Born in Philadelphia, PA on Sept. 29, 1923, he was a son of the late Robert S. Hurd and Elizabeth Jones Hurd.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Massaro & her husband Vincent and Deborah Miller & her husband James; his son, Stephen Hurd & his wife Sandra, all of Hamden; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, William Hurd & Russell Jones.
Robert was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the First Cavalry Division. He retired in 1988 as Vice President for the Lomas & Nettleton Company and subsequently worked for the Recreation Department of the Regional Water Company for many years.
Robert was one of the founding members of the Dunbar United Church of Christ, a former Boy Scott Leader and instructor for the US Power Squadron and an avid outdoorsman.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, Oct.12 at 11 a.m. in the Dunbar United Church of Christ, followed by his interment with Military Honors in the Church Columbarium.
