Hamden Obituaries: Rose V. Pisano D’Onofrio, 91

Rose V. Pisano D’Onofrio, 91, of Hamden, died suddenly at Yale-New Haven Hospital Nov. 7, 2013. She was the wife of the late Edward M. D’Onofrio, Sr.

Rose was born in New Haven on Aug. 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Carmen and Maria Saffiotti Pisano, and had resided in Hamden most of her life.

A very active and longtime communicant of St. Rita’s Church, she was past president of the Ladies Guild. Her family was the most important thing to her and she was devoted to them.

She is survived by her loving children, Linda (Kenneth) Roos of Hamden, Edward M. (Noreen) D’Onofrio, Jr. of North Haven, Louis A. (Janet) D’Onofrio of Cromwell and Dr. Dennis (fiancée Bridgette) D’Onofrio of Goshen, sister of Sara Cameron of Bristol, Phyllis Lyons of West Haven and Jerry Pisano of FL., sister in law of Louise Pisano of Orange. Grandmother of Edward L. (Jen) D’Onofrio, Ryan (Anita) D’Onofrio, Beth (Arnaldo) Torres, Melissa Schwartz, Bridget D’Onofrio, Brandy D’Onofrio, Nicole (John) Wiggins, Keri (Cory) Wydronkowski, John Buchine, Jason (Brianne) Roos, Jessica (Jeff) Anastasio, Caitlin and Justin D’Onofrio and 16 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by brothers Michael Iovene and Jimmie Pisano.

Her funeral will leave Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rita’s Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
