
Wallace J. Godfrey, 96, of Hamden, died Sept. 26, 2013.
He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie Fox Godfrey and the loving father of Mary Jane Godfrey of Hamden, Mark W. Godfrey of Branford and Timothy W. Godfrey (Christine Patenaude) of Shelton. He was the grandfather of Kelly E. Godfrey of FL.
He was predeceased by brothers Thomas, William, Edward, John and Robert and sisters Mary, Laura and Catherine and is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Richard and Mary Jean Godfrey of Chicago,IL.
Wallace was born Aug.7, 1917 in Streator, IL, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Keating Godfrey. He graduated from high school in Streator and served with the US Navy during WWII.
He graduated from Stone Business College with an accounting degree and was employed as comptroller for more than 30 years with the W.I. Clark Co. of Wallingford.
He was a member of the National Assoc. of Accountants, The American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, Buttons and Bows Square Dancing Group and when his children were young he was involved in the West Haven Biddy Basketball League, Cub Scouts and P.T.A.
His funeral will leave from the Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave.,Hamden, on Monday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
