Hamden Police: Gunman Robs SCSU Students of Electronics, Credit Cards
A man robbed to Southern Connecticut State University students at gunpoint early Thursday morning, the first of two armed robberies in Hamden Thursday.

Two Southern Connecticut State University students were robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning, the first of two armed robberies that occurred Thursday in Hamden.
At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning Hamden Police responded to the area of Arch Street and Fitch Street on the report of an armed street robbery, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
"Two Southern Connecticut State University students were walking on Arch Street when an individual emerged from a wooded area, pointing a gun at them," Smith said. "The individual, described as a black male, 5’9”, medium build, wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, demanded all of their belongings. The victims subsequently provided the individual with electronic equipment, credit cards and personal belongings. The individual then fled on foot towards Pine Rock Avenue."

Officer Jason Venditto and his K-9 partner “Viking” conducted a track, which ended at a condominium complex on Pine Rock Avenue, Smith said. There were no reported injuries.
Later Thursday evening a man was robbed of his cellphone at gunpoint in the parking lot of McDonald's in the Hamden Mart.
