Hamden Radio Station Is Back On The Air With New Owner

The former WQUN radio station, which was owned by Quinnipiac University, has returned to the airwaves with a new owner and format.

HAMDEN, CT — The former WQUN radio station dial broadcast for the first time in nearly a year under its new call letters WATX last weekend, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports WATX 1220 AM is owned by Boston-radio veteran Clark Smidt, who bought the station last October from Quinnipiac University.

The station, which has a low signal that Smidt is working on boosting, made its debut by broadcasting hit music from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, according to the Register.
