Hamden Teen Charged with Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old

The incident allegedly happened this past summer, according to police.

A 19-year-old Hamden resident is facing charges that he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl this past summer.

Police received a report of a 12-year-old who was sexually assaulted in August of this year, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

"Officers learned that the 12-year-old accompanied three individuals, including Cameron Hough, to an isolated area in the vicinity of 1869 Dixwell Ave.," Smith said in a release Monday. "Hough then sexually assaulted the juvenile victim inside of a large “cement tube”, which is located near a Hamden retailer."

Det. Stephen Rossaci investigated the incident, which led him to apply for a warrant for Hough's arrest, Smith said. On Monday, Hough turned himself in at Hamden Police Headquarters, he said.

Hough, 19, of 109 Kaye Vue Drive, Hamden, was charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held in lieu of $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 25.
