Man Charged In Overnight Home Burglary: Hamden Police

The man is accused of stealing electronic equipment and a bicycle while the homeowner was sleeping, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been arrested in connection with an overnight home burglary that happened last year, according to police.

Police responded to a Clifford Street address around 4:10 a.m. on March 30, 2020, on the report of a burglary, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said an investigation found that Salif Haidara had entered the residence through an unlocked front door.

“Once inside, he stole several items, including electronic equipment and a bicycle,” Smith wrote in a news release. “The homeowner, who was asleep, was alerted by his barking dog.”

Detective Joseph Liguori conducted an extensive investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Haidara.

Haidara, 21, of Newhall Street, was arrested May 24 and charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 5.
