Notice to Dog Owners: Make your Beagle Legal
Public Act 85-167 requires all dogs 6 months of age or older must be licensed and be vaccinated by the end of June.

From the Town of Hamden: Town Clerk Vera Morrison reminds all dog owners that June is Dog Licensing month, and time to purchase their 2017-2018 dog licenses/tags at the Town Clerk’s Office, HAMDEN GOVERNMENT CENTER, 2750 Dixwell Ave. Public Act 85-167 requires all dogs 6 months of age or older must be licensed and be vaccinated by the end of June.
License charges are $8.00 for a spayed or neutered dogs, and a spaying or neuter certificate must be shown. Unaltered dog license charges are $19.00. Licenses obtained after June 30th will be charged a late penalty of $1 per month in addition tothe above fees per state law. A current rabies certificate must be
presented to obtain a new license and tag.
A dog without a dog tag and proper rabies vaccination tag is presumed to be unlicensed, and not protected by law. The fine to a dog owner for failure to license is $75.00 (CGS 22-349), and failure of the owner to vaccinate against rabies is $136.00 (CGS 22- 339b). The fine for allowing dogs to roam is $92.00 (CGS22-364a), and owners are liable for prosecution for any damage done by your dog, including damage to shrubs, flowers and trees.

Licenses may be obtained from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday – Friday. A license may be obtained by mail if the following information is provided: Owner’s name, address and phone number; dog’s name, age, sex, color and breed; proof of current rabies vaccination plus proof of spaying/neutering along with the check.

All checks should be made payable to the “Hamden Town Clerk”, and mailed to the Town Clerk’s office, c/o Hamden Government Center, 2750 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518 along with a self-addressed stamped envelope, and all original papers will be returned with your dog license and tag.
The annual Dog Rabies Clinic will be held Saturday, June 17,2017 from 1-3 p.m. at the M.L.Keefe Center, 11 Pine Street. Rabies shots for dogs and cats will be $20.00 CASH ONLY/per animal*, and one free vaccination will be given with a state assistance I.D.card. Hamden Dog licenses may also be purchased there.
