Obituary: Peter Chometa, 75, of Hamden

Pete, an avid Red Sox fan and lover of the outdoors, was a devoted family man and friend to many.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) Peter Chometa, 75, of Hamden died suddenly at home on May 9, 2021. Pete was the loving husband of Carol (Rubino) Chometa for 53 years.

Pete was born on February 20, 1946 in Ingolstadt, Germany. He was the son of the late Michael and Olga (Zenruha) Chometa. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Luba (Peter) Copela, his son Peter M. (Heather) Chometa, his daughter Jill (Sam) Diedrick, and mother in law Doris Rubino.

He also leaves his 7 cherished grandchildren Trey Chometa, Samantha Diedrick, Riley Diedrick, Kai Chometa, Charlotte Diedrick, Gracie Chometa and Lily Diedrick.

He was blessed to have several nieces and nephews, extended family, and good friends.

Love of his family was his priority in life.

Pete was an avid Red Sox fan. When he wasn't busy lending a helping hand to all he knew, he spent his free time outdoors, beautifying his garden and admiring all mother nature has to offer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Masks will be required. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
