Obituary: Semaj ‘Maji’ Reddick-Streater, 18, Of Hamden

Semaj never hesitated to lend a hand. For many years, he volunteered his time and supported many Hamden community events.

HAMDEN, CT — (Contributed): Semaj "Maji" Reddick-Streater was born in New Haven, Connecticut on August 29, 2002 to Cornelius Streater and Malika Reddick and earned his wings on May 30, 2021.

Semaj attended ACES Whitney North and Hamden Public Schools. His mother, Malika, will be accepting his high school diploma on his behalf this week.

Semaj left a huge impression on everyone he came into contact with. He was a soft-spoken, kind and respectful young man with a huge sense of humor. He could always make you smile, no matter how down you felt. Semaj never hesitated to lend a hand. He was known to help family, friends and neighbors with whatever task they were struggling with.

Semaj was adventurous and always willing to try something new or see a new place. He loved taking trips and doing things with his family and friends. For many years, he volunteered his time and supported many Hamden community events.

He will be truly missed.

Semaj is survived by his daughter Islah Torres, his mother Malika Reddick and father Cornelius Streater, his maternal grandmother Helen Reddick and paternal grandmother Nanny Mae Streater, his maternal grandfather Eric Jordan, his Aunt Jacara Jordan and uncles Michael Smith, Saquan Jordan, Kajuan Reddick and Sterling Streater (Iris Streater). Semaj was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Henry Streater and his uncle, Eric Smith and his aunt Erica Jordan. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of Semaj's life will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Colonial Funeral Home, 86 Circular Ave. Hamden. Viewing will be at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m.
