Obituary: William Jamar McMillian, 27, Of Hamden
William "Jamar" was a graduate of Albertus Magnus and worked for the City of New Haven as a firefighter.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Colonial Funeral Home): William Jamar McMillian, 27, of Hamden, suddenly entered eternal life on Thursday, May 6, 2021. William was born September 30, 1993 in New Haven, son of Angela Ruffin of Hamden, and predeceased by his Beloved Father William Francel McMillian.
William “Jamar” was a graduate of Albertus Magnus with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He attended Wilbur Cross High School in 2011. He was employed by the city of New Haven as a Firefighter in 2018, where he was pinned by his godfather Officer Quint McAuther. He completed the Fire Academy as Firefighter II, Hazmat Operation and he recently became the assigned Driver of Engine 9.
Jamar loved his family, especially his mother whom he always made sure was OK. Jamar has always been the man of the house, looking after his sister Brionna and brother Mason. He was devoted to his daughter Madison and has her name tattooed on his arm. He loved her with all his heart. Jamar’s best friends, Angel and Juwan were more like best brothers.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Juanita and Willie Starks and maternal grandparents Eddie Ruffin Sr. and Sherri Ruffin, and Joe Pue Sr. Jamar is survived by his precious daughter Madison Ava McMillian of New Haven, adopted daughter India Starks of Hamden, sister Brionna Brown of Hamden, brother Mason Cherry of Hamden, goddaughters Margaux and Maleah, godson Malacai.
