Hamden Man Dies After Jeep Crashes Into Bus Stop, Driver Arrested
Hamden police identified the victim as Maurice Messier, 57, of Hamden. A 59-year-old Hamden man was also seriously injured in the crash.

HAMDEN, CT — A 57-year-old Hamden man died after he was struck by a driver while inside a bus stop enclosure Wednesday morning, police said. The victim was identified as Maurice Messier and his family was notified, according to police Capt. Ronald Smith.
Another man, identified only as a 59-year-old Hamden man, was seriously injured in the crash and hospitalized. The driver, 31-year-old Pinky McBurrows of Ansonia, was arrested.
The crash happened in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street around 5 a.m. McBurrows was driving north on Dixwell Avenue when she crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic and hit the bus stop enclosure, which was occupied by the two men, Smith said.

Hamden Fire Rescue responded and provided medical assistance. The victims were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
McBurrows ran from her vehicle immediately after the crash and was quickly apprehended by Officer Elvin Rivera, Smith said. McBurrows was taken to police headquarters and charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility, operating without a license and failure to drive in proper lane. Smith said McBurrows could face additional charges.
