Police: Hamden Man Had Sawed-Off Shotgun
He was caught on Thanksgiving Day with the weapon, according to police.

Thanksgiving Day ended badly for a Hamden man who is facing charges he was in possession of a sawed off shotgun.
At about 2:30 p.m. Thursday Officer Michael DiMaria of the Hamden Police Department saw the man in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Dudley Street, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
The man fit the general description of someone who is wanted in another jurisdiction, he said.

"Upon approaching the individual, he fled on foot, leading officers on a short pursuit. The individual was subsequently apprehended on Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of the New Haven city line," Smith said in a release Friday.
"Investigation revealed that the individual, Stephon Tillery, dropped a loaded “sawed-off shotgun” in a driveway, in which he used to flee," Smith said.

Tillery, 19, of 104 Third St., Hamden, was charged with possession of a sawed-Off shotgun and interfering with a police officer. He was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and is due to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 13.
