Police: QU Student Injured by Tossed Chair

Police are looking for information as to who dropped the chair from the fourth floor, striking the student on the third floor.

Police are investigating an incident where a 20-year-old Quinnipiac University student was injured early Saturday morning when she was struck by a chair thrown from a balcony at the Rocky Top dormitory.

At about 12:45 a.m. Hamden Police got a report of an injured student, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

"Investigation revealed that the 20 year-old student, a Massachusetts native, was walking in the lounge area of a university dormitory when she was struck in the head by a falling chair," Smith said in a release Wednesday. "Further investigation revealed that the chair was thrown over a fourth floor railing by an unidentified individual. The chair landed on the head of the Quinnipiac University student, who was walking on the third floor."

Hamden Fire Rescue treated the student at the scene before she was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
