CT Weather: Strong Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Forecast Thursday

Thursday is expected to be stormy in Connecticut and here is the timeline of when we can expect the worst of the weather.

CONNECTICUT — Since January 1 the weather has largely been a non-issue as it has been dominated by a virtually no-snow winter, lots of rain and warmer temps. Not much to write or talk about in the weather department. And we've also had other things on our minds lately.

It appears Thursday's weather forecast will be more interesting, according to Connecticut's leading meteorologists. WFSB 3 TV Meteorologist Mark Dixon said on social media "we're quiet this evening, and dry for the (Thursday) am commute... however, a fast-moving yet potent storm system moves through late morning into the early afternoon hours. rain could be heavy at times and the wind could be gusty... especially in any t'storms that develop."

NBC Connecticut Chief Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said, "A threat for some strong storms tomorrow. Main window for action is noon to 3 p.m." And Fox 61 Chief Meteorologist Rachel Frank added on social media, "Wet and wild out there for a while Thursday with heavy rain, thunder and gusty winds." According to Frank the rain enters the western part of the state after 11 a.m. and by 1 p.m. it's raining everywhere heavily. You can watch her video here.
