Quinnipiac University Students Compete at Investment Competition

They took top three spots in the Best Business Plan/Model Competition for Personal Business at CT Venture Capital Investment Competition.

From Quinnipiac University: Six Quinnipiac University entrepreneurship majors representing five different business ideas had an impressive showing at the Connecticut Venture Capital Investment Competition sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Foundation on April 21 at Gateway Community College in North Haven.

Quinnipiac took the top three spots in the Best Business Plan/Model Competition for Personal Business. Joshua Macari of Cumberland, Rhode Island was first for his Caddy-Clean golf club cleaner, a kit for cleaning golf clubs while on the course. He won $2,000.
Macari said he came up with idea for the golf club cleaner while on the course with his high school golf teammates.
“We felt there must be a better way to clean our clubs than using a brush, spit and the front of someone’s T-shirt,” he said. “The motivation to clean our clubs faster led to the invention.”

John Fenton ($1,000) and Carissa Judd ($500) followed Macari in the Best Business Plan/Model Competition for Personal Business category. Fenton, of Shelton, introduced Quick Tune, a device that allows quick and easy tuning of drums, while Judd of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, pitched Renewabeauty, all-natural makeup made from reclaimed fruits and vegetables.
