Word that the woman shot by police Thursday after she allegedly tried to break through a barrier in front of the White House was once employed at a Hamden dental office brought an onslaught of media requests Friday.
"I'm sorry, we are no longer talking to the media," said a woman who answered the phone Friday at Advanced Periodontics.
Miriam Carey, 34, a Stamford resident who worked for more than a year at the Washington Avenue office, was killed Thursday by D.C. police after she led them on a chase along Pennsylvania Avenue. Her one-year-old daughter was in the car at the time but wasn't injured.
According to reports, Carey's mother told ABC News that her daughter was suffering from postpartum depression.
According to several published reports, Carey was fired from Advanced Periodontics last year. She began working there in the spring of 2011.
And according to the New Haven Register, before being fired Carey was involved in a dispute over using a handicapped parking space in front of the office. She was parking in the space but it wasn't clear if she had a permit, according to the reports. She was told to stop using the space and was fired several months later.
