Sacred Heart Academy Performs 'Peter Pan' At Shubert Theater
More than 200 students from Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden and boys from 12 different schools presented Peter Pan at the Shubert Theater.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Sacred Heart Academy): More than 200 students from Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden and male actors from 12 different schools presented Broadway’s timeless classic—Peter Pan—to a sold-out audience at the historic Shubert Theater in New Haven this past weekend. The audience was whisked away to a place where dreams are born and time is never planned.
Featuring approved revisions to the classic text, the magic of Flying by Foy, the iconic songs "I'm Flying," "I've Gotta Crow," "I Won't Grow Up," and "Never Never Land," and a rousing performance full of magic, warmth, and adventure, Peter Pan was the perfect show for the child in all of us. A dream come true for the student body, Peter Pan allowed the crew to expand its technical prowess, and the performers to entertain countless families.
Sacred Heart’s Megan Harkins ’20 (North Haven) dazzled as she sang and gracefully flew across the stage as Peter Pan. Laniyah Diaz ’21 (New Haven) fierce as Captain Hook, Talia Bellucci ’21 (North Haven) as Wendy, and Fiorella O’Connor ’21 (New Haven) as Tiger Lily (New Haven) served as the other leads. Notre Dame’s Michael Iasalvatore ’20 (Hamden) kept the audience amused as Hook’s sidekick Smee.eads.

This was the third time is that Sacred Heart has performed Peter Pan and more than 400 alumnae returned to see the performance… by all accounts this was one of the best yet! Alumnae were recognized at each show and special recognition was given to those alumnae that had performed in the 1964 and 1978 Sacred Heart productions of Peter Pan… one alumna came from as far away as Spain. Originally called the “operetta,” the Sacred Heart musical has taken place each year since the first students enrolled in 1946.
The Academy is proud of the talented cast and crew, director MaryLee Delaney (Wallingford), producer Kim Curbow ’81 (Branford), choreographer Janet Gambardella Bracale ’77 (North Haven), and musical director by Jerold Goldstein. What a show!
