Sacred Heart Valedictorian Commits To Vassar College
Elizabeth Lamont will attend Vassar College in the fall as the top ranking student in the class of 2017.

From Sacred Heart Academy: Elizabeth Lamont, 18, the Sacred Heart Academy valedictorian, will attend Vassar College in the fall. As the top-ranking student in the Class of 2017, Elizabeth delivered the Valedictory Address at Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 27. She is the daughter of Angus and Catherine Lamont of Hamden.
When Elizabeth was accepted to Sacred Heart, she was awarded the Sister Antonine Signorelli Scholarship for her outstanding performance on the entrance exam. In sophomore year, she represented Sacred Heart Academy at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. As a junior, she was the recipient of the Yale Book Award. In both junior and senior year, she was selected to participate in the Moody’s Mega Math Challenge team, a national math modeling competition. This fall, she was named a National Merit Commended Scholar. This spring she was named a Summa Scholar by the Archdiocese of Hartford and recognized by the Connecticut Association of Schools for Excellence in the Arts.
Elizabeth was inducted to National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), and French National Honor Society. She was co-president of Key Club, a member of the Campus Ministry Leadership Team, president of Art Club, and co-captain of the Golf Team. Elizabeth was in the cast of the Sacred Heart musical all four years and was a member of the Sister to Sister Club where students visit with the retired Sisters at Sacred Heart Manor. Elizabeth now has a part-time job at “the Manor”.

Elizabeth is undecided on a major, but is considering art, art history, or history. In the summers following her sophomore and junior year, she worked as a junior intern at Old Sturbridge Village, a living history museum in Massachusetts.
Reflecting on her time at Sacred Heart, Elizabeth offers, “What I love about Sacred Heart is that it is a place where everyone is loved, cared for, and given opportunities, not only to learn, but to grow in every aspect as a person.”
