HAMDEN, CT — (From the Hamden Art League): The public is invited to the Hamden Art league’s opening reception for its annual Silverbells Art Exhibition and Sale from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 10. The event will take place in the Social Hall of the Hamden Senior Center in the Miller Memorial Library Complex, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, with entrance around the back of the building.

This popular, festive event provides an opportunity for the public to meet the exhibiting artists and purchase their artworks. There will be tables of holiday food and drinks, a large raffle of art-related items, and a separate raffle of a watercolor donated by CT artist/illustrator Mike Eagle. The raffle proceeds support HAL’s Annual Scholarship Award to an artistically talented Hamden High Senior who will be continuing her/his study of art in college.

The highlight of the evening is the presentation of awards to the exhibition’s winning artists. This year more than $500 in monetary awards and gift certificates will be presented. The judge this year is Mia Brownell, Professor of Painting and Drawing at SCSU, and an award-winning artist whose works are widely exhibited both nationally and internationally.
