State Police Nab Hamden Man on Drug Charges

He was pulled over on I-95 in Guilford for speeding Sunday, according to police.


Roger S. Barber, 27, 643 Mix Ave., Apt. 22B, Hamden, was charged with criminal possession of a pistol, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, a failure to stop on the right and reckless driving over 85 mph after State Police said he was pulled over on I-95 at Exit 57 in Guilford going 98 mph in a 65 mph zone. 

According to police reports, after police searched his car they found nine small bags containing marijuana bundled into a larger bag, as well as a loaded handgun.

Police said Rogers is a convicted felon. According to the state Judicial Website, he was convicted in 2010 of second-degree assault causing serious injury with a weapon. He was sentenced to a suspended sentence of three years in prison with three years of probation.
 
The suspect was taken into custody and held on a $10,000 surety bond. He was scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Monday.
