Teen, 16, Robbed 17-Year-Old At Gunpoint: Hamden Police

A loaded gun was found in the teen's bedroom, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A 16-year-old New Haven resident was recently arrested after police said he robbed another teen at gunpoint in Hamden last month.

The robbery happened Feb. 22 when the victim, a 17-year-old New Haven resident, was walking on Oregon Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the victim’s cell phone and a small amount of money was stolen.

Officer Justin Martin conducted an investigation that led to an arrest warrant for the 16-year-old juvenile.

Hamden police arrested the 16-year-old on March 12, with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, according to Smith.

Smith said police found a loaded gun in the teen’s bedroom.

The 16-year-old was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and threatening. He is scheduled to appear in New Haven Juvenile Court on March 26.
