Teen Injured in Sunday Evening Shooting in Hamden
The youth was shot in the leg and groin area, according to police.

A 17-year-old Hamden teen was injured Sunday evening when he was shot "in the area of his leg and groin," according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
It happened about 6 p.m., Smith said. Police got a report of a shooting in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Dudley Street, he said.
When officers arrived, they found the wounded youth, Smith said. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment, Smith said.

"The individual responsible for the shooting is described as a black male, medium height, wearing a black leather coat, black pants, black hat and tan boots," Smith said. "He was armed with a semi-automatic handgun."
