This Week in Hamden: Budget Time Begins

The Legislative Council meets at 7 p.m.


Tuesday, Jan. 28

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the Thornton Wilder Hall at Miller Memorial Library Complex, 2901 Dixwell Ave.

The Board of Education holds a special meeting at 7 p.m. in the Board Room at Central Office, 60 Putnam Ave. Supt. of Schools Fran Rabinowitz will present her proposed 2014-15 budget.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

Tours will be offered at Wintergreen Magnet School for prospective students from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the school at 670 Wintergreen Ave. Morning tours also are available by appointment by calling 203-281-9668.


Thursday, Jan. 30

The Hamden Symphony Orchestra is seeking musicians interested in joining an established community orchestra for the spring 2014 cycle. They are particularly are in need of additional string instruments, as well as french horn and trombone. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings beginning today at 7.15 pm.

Saturday, Feb. 1:

A teen made anti-bullying short film directed by 19-year-old Nicholas Lamoreux will be screened at Hamden’s “The Space” arts venue today with the intention to bring about change among children and teenagers.  The event will host two screenings at 4:00 p.m. and 5:40 p.m., offering a band performance as the intermission. The short film “Forgive Me” takes a “peer to peer” approach in an attempt to educate and empathize with students affected by bullying.  All are welcome to attend.
