This Week in Hamden

This week's events include the Hamden Police hosting a Halloween Party Tuesday.

Today is Monday, Oct. 28 and here's what's going on this week in Hamden:

— Tonight the Legislative Council's committees meet at 7 p.m. at Thornnton Wilder Auditorium at Miller Library. Find the agenda here. They also will hold a special meeting immediately afterward and here's that agenda.

— Also tonight the Hamden Book Discussion Club meets at 7 p.m. at Miller Memorial Library, when the book "The Chaperone" by Laura Moriarty will be discussed.

— On Tuesday the Hamden Police Department is sponsoring a Halloween Party for youth up to age 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Hamden Middle School cafeteria, 2623 Dixwell Ave. Prizes will be awarded to youth for best costumes! There will also be a DJ, treat bags, and fun games for kids!  Don't miss out on this wonderful event! 

— Also on Tuesday, ArtScapades will host a lecture "French Impressionism: From Studio to Plein Air" that will focus on the important artists and movements of the period, including background information on each artist's life and work, characteristics of style to help you visit any museum, anywhere, and recognize the artist’s work, and the relationship of the artistic movement to historical and intellectual currents of the time. 

The presentation is at 7 p.m. at Miller Memorial Library. 

— On Saturday, the Hamden Arts Commission presents renowned operatic tenor Roberto Iarussi in a concert entitled “Roberto Iarussi: A Musical Celebration of Love and Hope." Iarussi, who recently recorded a cd with The London Symphony Orchestra, will debut selections from the soon-to-be-released disc entitled “I Believe”. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Hamden High School Auditorium, 2040 Dixwell Ave. Tickets are $35 general admission; $25 for senior citizens and students.
