Vehicle Fire Extinguished Off Route 15 In Hamden

The driver saw smoke coming from the engine as he was exiting the Wilbur Cross Parkway, according to fire officials.

HAMDEN, CT — Firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire under the Route 15 overpass on Dixwell Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.

Crews responded to the scene around 2 p.m. after the driver saw smoke coming from the engine when he was exiting the Wilbur Cross Parkway, according to officials.

Officials said the engine compartment became fully involved in fire after he got out of the vehicle.

The southbound lanes were fully reopened to traffic around 2:45 p.m.
