Quinnipiac University will host, 'The Way Forward: The Development and Marketing of Pharmaceutical Products' on April 22
Michael Benkowitz, president and chief operating officer of United Therapeutics, will discuss, “The Development and Marketing of Pharmaceutical Products,” as part of “The Way Forward: The Quinnipiac President’s Speaker Series,” on Thursday, April 22.
HAMDEN, CT – Michael Benkowitz, president and chief operating officer of United Therapeutics, and Steven Sorrells, a health care industry executive, will discuss, “The Development and Marketing of Pharmaceutical Products,” as part of “The Way Forward: The Quinnipiac President’s Speaker Series,” at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 22.

Quinnipiac President Judy Olian and Mary Schramm, associate professor of marketing, will moderate the discussion, which will focus on the development, marketing and importance of pharmaceutical products both worldwide and domestically, and their heightened importance during the pandemic.
Sorrells spent more than 20 years at Pfizer holding a broad range of senior leadership roles in sales leadership, marketing, market access, operations and strategy across diverse geographies and therapeutic areas. He has held leadership roles in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the U.S., while working in therapeutic areas that include vaccines, oncology, pain and cardiovascular disease.
Sorrells’ last role at Pfizer was serving as the leader of a global team focused on transforming the way Pfizer engages customers and patients throughout the health care system. After this very successful career at Pfizer, he will join a rapidly growing health care technology company as the chief operating officer starting next month.
Benkowitz joined United Therapeutics in 2011 as executive vice president, organizational development. In this role, he was responsible for most companywide administrative functions, including human resources, information technology, corporate real estate and risk management, and also was responsible for many business development efforts and oversight of several key collaborations.
Benkowitz was promoted to president and chief operating officer in June 2016, when he also became responsible for all of our commercial and medical affairs activities.
