Whitney Donut Closes Temporarily Over Coronavirus Concern

The popular doughnut shop in Hamden temporarily closed after some staff members were exposed to the coronavirus, the owners announced.

HAMDEN, CT — Whitney Donut and Sandwich Shop in Hamden has reopened after being temporarily closed after some staff members were exposed to the coronavirus.

The owners announced Tuesday night that the popular doughnut shop, at 2574 Whitney Ave., would be closing for a few days for a deep cleaning.

“It has come to our attention that some of our staff has become exposed to Covid 19,” the owners wrote in a post on Facebook at the time. “As a precaution we will be temporarily closed for a few days due to a thorough sanitization and cleaning. We feel it’s best to put our staff and family first. We will reopen up safely once our staff all test negative. Thank you for understanding, we can’t wait to see you again and stay safe!”

The owners announced early Saturday morning that Whitney Donut was reopening on Halloween.
